It was to be expected the controversy that would bring among conservative sectors of the society, specially the Catholic Church, the decision of the Mexican Supreme Court of Justice endorsing the constitutionality that married gay couples in Mexico City can adopt, but not to the extent of a lawsuit of Mexico City’s Mayor, Marcelo Ebrard against the cardinal of Guadalajara, Juan Sandoval Íñiguez.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa is finally here, and the Mexican national team had to face one of  its biggest challenge, playing the inaugural game with the host team. The whole country woke up to tune in and follow the TRI’s first big match on African soil.  The lucky fans that managed to travel to Johannesburg and see the game from the stands of the Soccer City Stadium is the envy of millions here, but that didn’t stop, at least for 50 thousands Mexico City’s residents to experienced a World Cup “fiesta” at the very heart of the Aztec city, where the International FIFA Fan Fest is underway.

Mexico is no place for gays to be gay

Although Mexico City is the only place in Mexico where it’s recognize gay rights and allows same- sex marriage, is still far to become a “pink paradise”. In a country where most of its population is catholic, and conservatives groups won’t allow anyone to corrupt Catholic values, even if its a government disposition.
